Amani is the founder of Desert Dwellers and one of the most prolific and pioneering downtempo producers hailing from the United States. Having spent the past 24 years exploring where electronic, dub, and world music styles co-exist, his live sets are known to tastefully weave soundscapes that immerse the listener in a journey of otherworldly sonic dimensions and inner spaces.
Amani has released 6 full length albums on White Swan Records, 3 albums on YogiTunes, as well as countless singles, EPs and remixes for labels like Six Degrees, Flow, Iboga, Native State, and Desert Trax. After the success of the Desert Dwellers’ “DownTemple Dub” series on White Swan, and the past couple years of playing festivals like Lightning In A Bottle, Symbiosis, Wanderlust, Shambhala, and Earthdance, Amani and the Desert Dwellers are utilizing 2012 to release three cutting edge remix albums that feature some of the top dub producers on the planet, as well as work on a brand new original album and go on tour to many of the primary music festivals on the west coast.
Aside from Desert Dwellers, Amani is involved in other music collaborations such as Amani vs Teapot, Variant Field, Chase the Lazer, Liquid Bloom, and Shaman’s Dream. He has co-founded an electronic music label with music partner Treavor Moontribe called Desert Trax, and co-founded the YogiTunes digital music store with Rara Avis. He has remixed artists such as Karsh Kale, Deep Forest, David Starfire, Adham Shaikh, Kalya Scintilla, Kaya Project, Deya Dova, and many other leading electronic and yoga artists. His music can be heard on countless DVDs by yoga teachers such as Shiva Rea, Hemalayaa, and Duncan Wong. In addition to music production, Amani is also known as a digital visionary artist, graphic and web designer, and produces the majority of his own album covers.
