As Shambhala has grown, so has our desire to give back to our community, and those in need in the broader world.
Shambhala Music Festival Charitable Donations
2010 Donations
Haiti
In 2010, a considerabe amount of the donations we made went toward relief in Haiti. Rather than donating to a large organization, we donated to small non-profits that focus on mother and child health in the wake of natural disasters. They were among the first to set up their clinic in Haiti after the earthquake, and remained long after most other organizations had pulled out. Kootenay Lake Outdoor Skate Park Society (KLOSPS)
It’s amazing that in this day and age, there is still a community without a skatepark. But, that is the situation in Nelson, BC. While many of the smaller communities around us have had skate parks for years, ours is still struggling to get off the ground. The donation Shambhala made to KLOSPS in 2010, combined with our 2009 donation, made the festival the single largest contributor to the project.
We are dedicated to seeing this project through, and will continue to donate until there’s a park to skate!
