Camping
Leave No Trace principles and practices extend common courtesy and hospitality to other wildland visitors and to the natural world of which we are all a part.  They are based on an abiding respect for nature.  This respect, coupled with good judgment and awareness, will allow you to apply the principles to your own unique circumstances.  We call all act on behalf of the places and wildlife that inspire us.  Learn and a dopt the skills and ethics that enable us to Leave No Trace.


Shambhala Music Festival is located on a family farm.  The cows graze in the fields before and after the event.  Please keep this in mind when dealing with your camp trash.  Garbage is a major concern for the festival.  We strive to make facilities accessable and functional, with recycling and garbage bins.  We ask that you please use these facilities.  

I love watching the vehicles roll in with their portable living rooms, but it is a sad sight to see the festival afterwards with couches, arm chairs, broken tents and garbage littering the fields.  This year Shambhala will have Event Staff roaming the camp grounds issuing garbage tickets.  If one of these friendly hosts comes to your camp and writes up a warning, please take the time to clean up your mess.  If your camp is caught again, you may be asked to leave or pay a fine.

Your tickets will gain you entrance to the festival grounds at 8am on Friday, August 7th, 2008. Early entry is available on Wednesday, August 5th at 8 am for an additional $50 per person. Early entry on Thursday, August 6th at 8 am is available for an additional $25 per person.

Vehicles parked on the highway outside of the festival grounds will be towed. If you arrive early in Salmo, please check out the local shops and services in town and stay off the road!

Don't bring too much stuff!  Get a jump on waste managment by planning meals to avoid leftovers.  Package food in reusable containers or plastic bags.  Get rid of wrappers and heavy packaging in advance, so you won't be tempted to leave them behind.
