ShambhaLodging FAQ

Got questions?  Here’s the ShambhaLodging FAQ!

QWhere do I pick up my ShambhaLodging tickets if they are at WILL CALL?

A

A: All Will Call tickets are held at the Reception Building near the Main Gate. You will be able to access this building after you have gone through the searches in the Fairy Lot.

*Reminder – you will need two pieces of gov’t issued ID, incl. 1 piece of photo ID,  for entry to the festival and to pick up your tickets. Ensure a smooth entrance by providing proof of purchase (hint: if you have a smart phone, you can save paper by showing us the screen!).

QChecking into Lodging? I need details.

A

It’s really not all that complex. Just get to the event. There will be signs and/or you will be directed when you get there. We will try and post more details closer to the event but don’t stress about it now.

QWhere do I Park?

A

Most campers, including Lodgers, arrive in personal vehicles. All Lodging spaces are allocated their own parking space (one space per campsite).

However, cars are damaging to the farmland, and reducing the footprint on the farm is important to us. Carpool, or find alternative modes of travel and start seeing the benefits right away!

If you don’t need/use your parking space, we’ll supply a pair of camp chairs for the week for FREE!

You save $40, AND precious cargo space in whatever mode of transport you arrive in – all while helping contribute to less soil compaction on the farm. Win-win-win!

QMay I drive in/out of Lodging camping?

A

Once you have been parked in the designated ShambhaLodging Parking, your vehicle must remain parked for the duration of the festival. This is for your safety and the safety of all attendees.

Given the configuration and the limitations of our site we need everyone to cooperate with the parking crew. Please park where you are directed and remain there.

If you need to leave the festival early, please let the Lodging Hosts know, so they can help direct you out safely. Night driving is highly discouraged for safety reasons.

Your car will NOT be admitted back in to the car camping area once it has been driven out.

QCan we/How can we camp next to each other if we are not arriving together?

A

It’s best to plan to arrive together. You won’t be able to park next to each other if you don’t drive together. If you have later party(s), they can just park where they are directed and walk over to your spot.

We plot Lodgers into their camp spaces as they arrive, so please indicate to the Lodging Manager or Hosts if you have any preferences with camping next to others, and when they are expected to arrive. We cannot guarantee that it will work for everyone, but we do our best, and are confident that we can make something work for your situation.

QCan I buy Lodging tickets and sleep in an RV or car parked in the onsite Lodging parking lot? Can I park my bus in the Lodging parking lot?

A

No. RVs/trailers are not allowed to park in the Lodging parking lots or camp at any time. Our parking area is not equipped to handle any large vehicles such as RV’s, buses, U-Haul trailers, or other over-sized vehicles.

Sleeping within your vehicle in the Lodging parking is permitted, but any additional tents/structures in that area are not permitted. Please plan accordingly.

QWhat size tent/how much space do we get? Can we bring an extra tent?

A

All spots are approx. 10×20, tents are approx. (9×9). We don’t draw lines around the sites, but space them out quite generously to allow for a roomy feel.

No additional outside structures are permitted (for example, extra tents, domes, marquis shelters, etc.), though we do welcome tarps, hammocks, and decorations, as long as it does not intrude into other Lodging spaces.

NEW THIS YEAR!

We can provide small storage tents (approx 5 x 5) for $50 and/or a bug/rain shelter (approx 11 x 11) for $100, to customize your space and make it more comfortable.

QHow close are the campsites to the festival site?

A

Lodging tucked into the surrounding property trees, and is approximately a 5-7 minute walk to the downtown core and stages. The terrain is grassy, rocky, uneven, and depending on the weather can be wet. Please bring comfortable and appropriate footwear as the grounds are spread over a 100 acre area, and you are bound to do a lot of walking.

QCan I bring food/beverages/chairs & a cooler into the Lodging campground?

A

Yes, excluding food/beverages in glass bottles. Please be kind to the cows (shards of glass are potentially deadly)! Please remember that all packages, coolers and equipment will be fully searched by security personnel upon entrance. NO GLASS OR ALCOHOL. (For a full list of Banned Items, click here.)

You may bring your own chairs and cooler if you wish. If you do not have a cooler you may rent one for the week for $40.

You can also rent a pair of camp chairs for $40.

QMay I bring a stove to cook?

A

The following are the requirements for the use of an outdoor cooking appliance:

  • Only propane fuelled cooking appliances permitted. No wood, charcoal, or any other flammable/combustible liquid (or other material) appliances.
  • All cooking appliances must bear a certification or listing from a nationally recognized testing or certification organization.
  • A minimum of 3 ft of clearance shall be maintained at all times while cooking appliance is in use. No combustible material shall be within 3 ft (such as tarps, tents, trees, etc.)
  • Cooking appliances, when in use, shall not be left unattended.

QMay I have a campfire?

A

Campfires, fire pits, hibachi (camp stoves), even tea candles or any other open flame are not permitted anywhere on the festival site. In other words… NO!

QWill there be a lost and found?

A

If you are missing anything from the Lodging zone, please notify one of the Lodging Hosts immediately. They are a resource for information and will help as best they can.

If you lose something while you’re out on the festival grounds, general Lost & Found is located within the BASScamp dome in the heart of our Downtown core. Speak with a Shambhassador (in the top hats) if you need help or have any questions.

QWill there be bathrooms/showers? ADA accessible? Private?

A

Yes, there will be free bathrooms (port-a-potties) and paid showers available.

Separate M/F Shower stall, with public changing space and individual bathing privacy. There will be handicap accessible facilities for both as well.

More information on the Shower Schedules will be posted closer to the festival date.

QWhat if 'misplace' my campsite (/get lost) during the festival?

A

There will be Shambhassadors roaming the grounds to help you if you get lost – seek the BASScamp dome, near the water station, for immediate assistance. But try to remember what area you are in, signs and road markers and even theme camps can act as landmarks. Things can change drastically, especially from Wednesday to Friday, so take the time to explore the festival grounds in the daylight and after dark to get your bearings.

QWill there be a place for me to buy coffee or get hot water?

A

Yes. There will be coffee vendors there. (Little known fact: Shambhala is powered by unicorns, Shambhalove and caffiene.)

QWill there be electrical outlets?

A

No, we are off-grid and do not have any public electrical outlets. One of our vendors, Columbia Wireless offers phone or camera charging as a service.

You could also consider bringing a car or solar charger to cover your needs.

QWhere is the closest ATM?

A

There is an ATM building located near the water station in the downtown core. There is one at the main gate as well.

QCan I bring a bicycle? Are there local places to rent a bicycle?

A

Yes, pedal bikes are allowed. It is highly recommended that you bring a bike lock if you bring a bike. No rentals available.

QCan I bring the family to camp? Can I have more than 2 people in my camp?

A

All festival attendees must be 19 years of age or older with ID.

All Lodging spaces are fit to hold 2 people in them comfortably. We recommend purchasing an additional space if you wish to have more. We have had people squeeze a third person into their tents, but please remember that every camper must have their own festival pass, and that a Lodging package only comes with 2 tickets (max) available. You will have to seek any additional tickets needed elsewhere to accommodate any additional guest.

QCan I bring my friends into camp?

A

Sure, as long as everyone has a festival pass you can have them come to your camping spot.

QAre generators allowed into the Lodging area?

A

No. Generators are strictly prohibited from the grounds.

QWhere is the nearest Gas Station and/or offsite food place?

A

The nearest gas station is about (approx 12 km) away, The Salmo Pump on Hwy 3. There are several restaurants within the Village of Salmo.
