Lisa Walker is a violinist, tribal drummer and humpback whale
researcher fascinated by the possibility of music existing in other
species.
"Grooved Whale", her award-winning album was released to acclaim in
2000 and marks the beginning of her study into the evolving patterns
and melodies of humpback whale song. She is now set to release the
culmination of 10 years of research with her follow-up album "Music
for Other Ears" in fall 2010.
Her music blends violin, electronics, and, yes, some solid grooves, to
take us far down the path she has traveled in listening to, and
playing music with, humpback whales. Each song explores a particular
aspect of whale song and sometimes you can't tell the difference
between the samples and her playing, which is both reverent and
velvety.
Joining Grooved Whale and bringing his hands-on tweaks, FX
magic, ethereal bleeps and drops is Haagen Live PA (aka Dasz), a
Vancouver based minimal/progressive, electro/trance evolutionary mad
man.
Also joining will be Isshin Denshin (Alcvin Ryuzen Ramos & Kirk Watson), master musicians who are dedicated to creating atmospheres of beauty, mystery, love and danger.
